What is a Certified Professional Coder training course?

The NAMAS Certified Professional Coder (CPC) training course is an intensive program that covers all medical and specialty coding. The program is available to individuals interested in expanding their coding knowledge as well as the student interested in a career in medical coding.

The course delivers a thorough review of the principles of ICD-9, HCPCS, CPT, as well as Medical Terminology. All of the study materials are approved by the American Academy of Professional coders.

Eligibility: A high school diploma is required (or GED equivalent); must be 18 years old; one year of work experience in a medical office setting is preferred, but not necessary.

AAPC Exam Requirements To sit for the AAPC exam, the student must have attended a Professional Medical Coding Curriculum (PMCC) or an 80-hour coding curriculum or have two or more years work experience.
